24/7 access to doctors
When you request a consultation, one of our on-call physicians promptly responds. SwiftMD physicians are trained in emergency medicine and telemedicine, so no matter which physician returns your call, you’ll receive excellent care.
Consultations can be handled over the phone or in conjunction with other technologies. Many of our members email photos of symptoms to physicians. Our members frequently consult physicians about illnesses (acute and chronic), minor injuries, nagging health concerns, medication questions and requests, wellness issues and to get second opinions.
A fee will be charged to you and/or your employer, as outlined in your membership plan. Since consultation fees are medical expenses, they can generally be paid with funds in Flex Plans or any qualified medical savings account. They may also be covered by your health insurance.
Prescriptions and labs
Our physicians are licensed to prescribe most medications over the phone, including common maintenance medications. In your interest SwiftMD physicians will take into consideration issues of substance abuse, safety, and state-by-state regulation. Upon request, prescriptions can be called in to any U.S. pharmacy or submitted to an online pharmacy to be filled.
In addition to prescriptions, SwiftMD doctors may order laboratory tests and refer you to specialists.
Secure personal recordkeeping
As part of your membership, you have access to your Personal Health Record. This record, which you establish when you join SwiftMD, includes your initial and continuing personal medical history.
Each time you consult with one of our physicians, he or she inserts notes, diagnoses and treatment recommendations into your record. Additionally, the record tracks prescriptions. This gives our physicians a current record to consult prior to recommending treatment, and gives you a handy reference of the medical care you and your family receive.
In addition to your Personal Health Record, membership includes easy account tracking and membership maintenance. You can access your account at any time to update personal information, add or remove members, or review charges.
Our encrypted system ensures security of information. Our online health record and protocols have been rigorously reviewed and are fully HIPAA compliant. Only you and our medical staff have access to your records.
